Botox/Dysport

The daily expressions of the face–smiling, frowning, laughing–cause creases that can form deep wrinkles over time. As these wrinkles deepen, they can give the appearance of ageing and exhaustion. Botulinum toxin injection is one of the most common, non-invasive cosmetic treatments available in the United States. This injection comes in several forms or “brand names” including Botox, Dysport, Xeomin and Jeuveau. Injections of botulinum toxin are used to improve expression lines between the brows, to smooth crows feet, and to correct bunny lines on the nose. Less commonly, botulinum toxic injections can also be used to improve neck bands, thick jaw muscles, and lip lines. Botox and Dysport work by temporarily blocking nerve function and muscle movement. The movement of muscles in the treatment area causes skin wrinkles that can become deep creases over time. Many patients begin botox treatment as a preventative measure to stop wrinkles from forming. Botox and Dysport can also be used to give a tighter, more lifted appearance to the forehead and brow.
